USDA Reports U.S. is Free of the Plum Pox Virus

Plum Pox Eradicated 102219

USDA reports the U.S. is free of the plum pox virus. It's a virus that harms stone fruit trees, like peaches and almonds. It can cause yield losses and can reduce the marketability of stone fruit.

Last week, the undersecretary for USDA signed a proclamation on the fight against the virus saying that our 20-year fight against it is officially over. It was first detected in Pennsylvania in 1999 and was found in Michigan and New York in 2006.
