University Weed Guides Highlight Top Pre-emergent Weed Control Options

New weed control guides published by top agricultural university extension divisions present a complete view of weed control challenges, options and key considerations for the upcoming crop year.

The important role of pre-emergent herbicides was highlighted in the 2018 Ohio, Indiana and Illinois Weed Control Guide from Ohio State University Extension.

"While research has shown that weeds will not reduce crop yields if controlled within a few weeks after emergence, preplant and preemergence herbicides have the advantage of eliminating weeds before they reach this threshold.”

Nufarm’s Panther Pro, a liquid three way pre-plant and pre-emergent soybean herbicide, is featured throughout new weed guides including the 2018 Herbicide Guide for Iowa Corn and Soybean Production from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

“Panther Pro is very effective on many annual broadleaf weeds such as common lambsquarters, waterhemp and others as well as foxtail species and other annual grass weeds. Panther Pro provides excellent burndown of many seedling broadleaf weeds less than 4 inches in height but the addition of glufosinate, glyphosate or paraquat will help with the control of emerged grasses.”
