President Trump saying China has taken a "hard hit" in recent months. He continues to say he believes Chinese leaders are sincere about wanting to reach a trade deal.

He announced Monday that Chinese officials called overnight, ready to make a trade deal.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman in Beijing could not confirm if those phone calls had taken place.
