On April 24, NEW Cooperative announced it has donated $10,000 to provide relief to the resident of Hornick, Iowa, via the The NEW Cooperative Foundation. The cooperative has one of its 42 locations based in Hornick, which is located in western Iowa.
“While NEW Cooperative employees and equipment, relief agencies, and many volunteers have worked countless hours to provide clean up, we know the effects of the flooding will be felt by the residents of Hornick for years to come,” Jared Ehrp, Region 5 Manager of NEW Cooperative said in a news release. “By collaborating with CoBank and the Land O’ Lakes Foundation, we are able to provide direct assistance to the residents of Hornick. We are glad to help the communities where are members and employees live.”
Curt Crichton, Hornick Fire Department Chief stated in the news release, “We appreciate NEW Cooperative’s support throughout the flooding. The use of NEW’s equipment and employees during the height of the flooding and after for cleanup efforts was sure a big help.”
Hornick residents have reported damages to the community were similar to the flood experienced in 1956.
