The Micronutrient Manufacturers Association (MMA) at its recent meeting in Orlando, Fla., presented Ford West, president of The Fertilizer Association with the Mortvedt Award for support and contributions to micronutrient fertilizer in agriculture. The award is named after the late John Mortvedt, Ph.D., a leading researcher and educator on micronutrients in crop production.
The MMA at the same meeting also made contributions to the Nutrients for Life and 4R Stewardship programs. Association Chairman Dirk Lohry of Nulex, Inc. said, "The association is pleased to be able to support these organizations that teach about the importance of nutrients in agriculture and promote the proper use of fertilizer products."
It was also reported that the MMA has developed CCA self study courses on zinc fertility and boron fertility and they can be accessed from the association's or International Certified Crop Adviser's websites. The MMA formed in 2009 represents manufacturers and formulators of products that provide micronutrients that are essential for plant growth. The purpose of the association is to promote, educate, and sponsor research on the agronomic use of micronutrients. MMA also engages in legislative and regulatory activities and facilitates industry communications.
