Fruit Logistica to mark 25 years through social media campaign

As Fruit Logistica celebrates its 25th anniversary, the international show has started a social media campaign to mark the milestone.

The Fruit Logistica fresh produce expo is scheduled for Feb. 8-10 in Berlin.

To note the anniversary, the organization is using the #25fruits hashtag.

Love for the product is the primary objective of #25fruits.

Messe Berlin GmbH, the event's organizer, is encouraging show participants, including exhibitors, trade attendees and fresh produce fans, to take selfies with fruit and post their pictures as a Facebook comment on Fruit Logistica's fan page

or to Instagram @25fruits.

The organization plans to share the images with its large international community.

People who do not use those social media venues can upload their photos at www.fruitlogistica.com.

Until the start of the show, Fruit Logistica plans 25 weekly challenges.

"My favourite yellow fruit" is the theme for the first challenge, which began in late August.

The show was founded in 1993 as the result of an industry impulse, according to a news release.

It has developed into a global trade fair for the fresh produce industry, according to the release.

"We know that our exhibitors and visitors are passionate about fruit and vegetables," Will Wollbold, Fruit Logistica's global brand manager, said in the release. "This passion is a consistent factor in a great industry that has seen impressive development over the past 25 years. We want to highlight this diversity and celebrate it with the #25fruits campaign."
