The United Fresh Produce Association is accepting applications for the 2018 Frieda Rapoport Caplan Family Business Scholarship to attend the United Fresh Washington Conference in Washington, D.C.
Founded in 2001 by sisters Karen Caplan and Jackie Caplan Wiggins of Frieda’s Inc., the scholarship program honors their mother.
The program provides the opportunity for representatives from family-owned businesses to attend the Sept. 24-26 conference, according to a news release. Scholarship recipients will receive complimentary airfare, a two-night hotel stay and full conference registration.
For the purposes of eligibility, a family business is defined as a "business in which two or more family members are involved and the majority of ownership control lies within a family," according to the release.
The scholarship committee evaluates applicants on several criteria, including the candidate’s interest in advocacy work and commitment to the produce industry.
Visit the United Fresh website for more information and to apply for the scholarship.
The application deadline is Aug. 15.
