A: “Farmers are looking for a better return on investment for the nutrients they apply. And they are looking for leadership, and dealers who are using 4R management are taking that leadership role. If we don’t show some decrease in phosphorus and nitrogen loss, we are going to be mandated to do something. For us in Illinois, we’ve got to show improvement by 2025. Being able to practice the 4Rs is a step in the right direction. For example, nitrogen split applications and sidedressing are showing good returns, particularly when a good stabilizer is used with the applied nitrogen.”
