Soil test summary - October 21, 2011
I will make up a summary of our fall soil tests next week….
But, for now, here are some trends that I am seeing:
- Soil sampling is going very well!
- There is an increasing interest in zone sampling, using management zones
- Soil test levels are variable, but generally coming back low
- Fertilizer is expensive and soil testing is cheap!
- You can pay for the whole soil testing bill by:
- Saving just a couple pounds of urea per acre
- Increasing corn yields by just 1/6 bushel per acre
- You can pay for the whole soil testing bill by:
- Growers are waiting to apply nitrogen until soil temperatures cool off
- Soil testing always pays!
If you are considering NOT testing your soil, then give me a call at 218-280-5733 and we can talk about it!
