Iowa farmer wins combine-naming contest
Oct. 06, 2009
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- MachineryLink, Inc.'s custom-restored combine will now be known as "Rock, the Renegade Combine." Modified by the Chrome Shop Mafia, the combine has attracted interest and compliments at farm shows throughout the country.
Jared Gray, Bedford, Iowa is the winner of the contest. Gray received a $1,000 VISA gift card for his winning submission, selected from hundreds of entries. The announcement was made by Mark Gabrick, MachineryLink's Director of Marketing, at this year's Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Ill.
The 26-year-old Gray farms with his parents and is also a credit analyst at a local bank. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State in ag business, and was a sales agronomist for three years before returning to the family farm. He continues to develop his own farm operation.
"We really liked the name Jared submitted, and have used it to spell out "Reeper Of Corn Kernels (R.O.C.K.)," says Gabrick. "We also like the analogy to 'solid as a rock,' which is how our customers feel about the service we provide."
The company owns over 265 combines and works with growers in 30 states. "These are field-ready combines, brought to growers when they need them," says Gabrick. To see and hear more from Mark, click here to watch the video.
"By incorporating our managed lease program into their harvest strategy, growers realize financial savings, improved cash flow and the technology benefits gained from dependable, well-calibrated, state-of-the-art equipment. In today's economy that's a winning combination."
"We're thrilled Jared is the winner, and who knows, he may be a future MachineryLink customer. Regardless, we're happy to be helping an innovative young farmer," says Gabrick.
