The American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA), AgProfessional magazine and Syngenta announce the 2008 Professional Farm Manager of the Year Award.


This award recognizes professional farm managers whose dedication and commitment to agriculture have benefited their clients, the American consumer and our most precious commodity - the land.
The Professional Farm Manager of the Year Award online nomination process simply requires completion of the fields below. Once these submissions are received, nominees will be invited to fill out a comprehensive application form. These applications will be evaluated by a panel of judges, which includes two immediate-past honorees and an independent crop consultant. The honoree will be selected from these finalists.

Anyone familiar with the work of a professional farm manager or farm management team can nominate candidates for this award. Farm managers and farm management teams also can nominate themselves.



Judging Criteria

The finalists will be selected by a panel of judges based on the following:
  • Number of clients and success at retaining clients
  • Innovative crop production practices implemented, including soil and water conservation
  • Average crop yields and marketing success
  • Involvement in agricultural and nonagricultural service organizations
  • Ability to adapt to the changing economic conditions facing agriculture
Honoree Awards
  • An expense-paid trip to the annual ASFMRA meeting including registration, travel and accomodations for the individual honoree or team representative
  • A personalized plaque
  • A $1,000 donation to a non-profit ag group of the honoree's choice
  • ASFMRA membership dues paid for one year for the individual honoree or team representative
Eligibility

To be eligible, a farm manager or farm management team must have:
  • At least five years farm management experience
  • Membership in ASFMRA
Nominations must be received by July 30, 2008.

  • Nominees will be sent a comprehensive questionnaire on August 1, 2008, which must be completed and returned by August 25, 2008.
  • The honoree will be contacted September 5, 2008.
  • The official announcement of Professional Farm Manager of the Year will be made during the ASFMRA Annual Convention in San Antonio, November 12 – 14, 2008.
