Does glyphosate cause cancer?
Source: Illinois Pesticide Review newsletter
There have been some recent references to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup and various other products, as causing cancer. One can search the internet and find a number of sites that seem to refer to it as a known situation.
However, increased searching finds that to be far from the case. Generally, these sites refer to a research paper published in 1999 in Sweden by L. Hardell and M. Eriksson titled "A Case-Control Study of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and Exposure to Pesticides" published in Cancer 85(6):1353-1360 and available here.
These sites tend to quote the following opening paragraph from the Pesticide Action Network, Asia and the Pacific, dated June 21, 1999.
