Rule prevents officials from attending industry events

On October 5, ARA President & CEO Daren Coppock joined other association executives in signing a letter to the Office of Government Ethics Acting Director and General Council’s Don Fox opposing the White House’s proposed rule on RIN 3209-AA04. The proposed rule would prevent administration officials from attending trade association events. 

The letter reiterates that companies join trade associations to promote common interests, best practices and learn about the latest industry developments. The letter further argues that setting policies that restrict knowledge-sharing between the government and trade associations is counterproductive to the administration’s stated aspirations to work in partnership with the business community to create jobs and grow the economy.
