New materials, guidance for SPCC program

The Oil Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) program was developed by EPA and calls for farmers and retail facilities to have an oil spill prevention plan, or an SPCC Plan, in place by Nov. 10, 2011.

The Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA) has been working closely with EPA to help ensure that information regarding the SPCC program is communicated to the agriculture industry. As a result of these efforts, EPA gave ARA permission to distribute reprints of the brochure with ARA’s logo and contact information listed on the back. Click here to download a copy of the brochure. ARA mailed an informational letter and an SPCC brochure to all primary contacts with ARA’s retailer and distributor members in September. 

Retailers currently working to develop an SPCC plan may consider using new mySPCC web-based tools developed by the Asmark Institute and TFI that walk retailers through development of a plan that may be customized for their facility at www.asmark.org/mySPCC.
