Agronomy retail business senior-level managers, department managers, high-potential managers and regional and district managers from manufacturers and basic suppliers can share ideas with peers at the ARA Management Academy.

The Feb. 5-7 program at Purdue University will include a broad-based selection of managerial topics chosen specifically for managers in the agricultural retail industry. Participants will sharpen their management, leadership and decision-making capabilities by engaging in faculty-led presentations, interactive exercises and small-group discussion.

The program is taught under leadership of the Purdue University Center for Food and Agriculture Business. The ARA Management Academy allows participants to build on their understanding of core business functions and the linkages between them, explore management challenges and discover retail business opportunities, strengthen their ability to lead people and work more effectively with upper management, network with peers from across different markets, and debate and dialogue with top agribusiness faculty, emphasized Purdue University and the Agricultural Retailers Association, which endorses the academy.

The ARA Management Academy is an investment in those managers charged with building and maintaining momentum in a challenging environment. This investment affords participating managers time away from the day-to-day work environment to specifically focus on developing their management skill set while networking and sharing ideas with a peer group of colleagues. Companies who sponsor participants know important keys in keeping pace with rapid changes in domestic and global industry trends, supply chains, customer segments, regulatory issues, distribution channels, risk management issues, and more complex technological advances.

The academy will engage participants in the following topics through a mix of discussion, small group exercises, case study application, and debate and dialogue with experienced agribusiness faculty:
