Did you know that by 2025, 25 percent of the electricity produced in Illinois must come from renewable sources?

There are significant incentives for wind energy, thus a multitude of companies have come into Illinois and proposed wind farms. IFCA and the Illinois Ag Aviation Association are meeting with wind energy companies and farmers to communicate the concerns IFCA has regarding the availability and cost of aerial application around wind towers. IFCA encourages you to also get involved if a wind project is being discussed in your area.

The legal counsel at Illinois Farm Bureau has put together a document that lists the questions that need to be addressed as landowners consider wind contracts.

"Our industry is not opposed to wind energy," the IFCA states, "but clearly more education on the issue is needed and questions should be asked about these projects and how they may impact production agriculture activities."
