The American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) announced Jerry Warner, AFM, of Omaha, Neb., as its new president.

Warner has been a member of ASFMRA since 1977 and received his Accredited Farm Manager designation in 1991. Since then he has served as the chair of the Management Accreditation Committee, chair of the Management Education Committee and Chair of the Education Foundation. Warner is the executive vice president of Farmers National Company in Omaha, where he has worked since 1972. He was promoted to regional vice president in 1980 and to his current position in 1987. Warner is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, and is a real estate broker in the state of Nebraska. He is also a member of numerous other groups and organizations.

"I am excited to serve this great organization as President during a key time in our organization's history," Warner said. "We have some outstanding opportunities currently before us in rural management, valuation and consulting."

Past Steve Runyan, ARA, added, "We are confident that under Jerry's leadership and direction, the ASFMRA will continue to provide exceptional resources and education to our members and the agricultural community."

Serving as president elect is Richard Edmunds, ARA, AAC, of Delevan, N.Y. First Vice President for the 2008-2009 year is Kirk Weih, AFM, of Mount Vernon, Iowa. Steve Runyan, ARA, will serve as immediate past president.
