A state-appointed panel in California has expressed its concerns over the use of methyl iodide in California. The panel claims the chemical poses significant health risks to workers and the general population.

Tokyo-based Arysta LifeScience Corp., who manufactures the chemical, has been fighting for more than a year to get the chemical approved in California. The EPA and nearly every other state has approved methyl iodide for use, as replacement for methyl bromide.
