Former Washington State University graduate student Geoff Hall is lead author on a recently published paper about the work in the Journal of Experimental Botany.

Working with Markus Keller, WSU Chateau Ste. Michelle Distinguished Professor of Viticulture and associate horticulturist at the Prosser Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center, and Baskar Bondada, assistant professor of viticulture at WSU Tri-Cities, Hall found evidence of a continuum in grapes with berry shrivel (BS) to those with bunch-stem necrosis (BSN). This is important, and helpful, Keller said, "because BSN is better understood by growers."
