FMC Corporation has acquired the herbicide fluthiacet-methyl from Kumiai Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., and Ihara Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., both of Tokyo. FMC has been distributing fluthiacet-methyl in the United States under the brand name Cadet herbicide and will now develop the herbicide globally.
Fluthiacet-methyl is a broad-spectrum herbicide currently registered for early post-emergence use on corn, soybeans and cotton in the United States. It is effective on many tough-to-control broadleaf weeds that have developed resistance to glyphosate.
