The EPA has scheduled a workgroup meeting on Oct. 2 to discuss the proposal of a Web-based labeling system for all U.S pesticide labels including section 3's, section 18's, and 24 C's, according to statement from the Agricultural Retailers Association.

"In general, from what the ARA Board understands, we are positive for the effort but there are lotd of issues that need to be resolved, such as what constitutes a label? Who provides the actual label to the applicator and/or the grower and in what form? Who is building and managing the new database?" said Jim Thrift, vice president of regulatory policy & corporations relations, Agricultural Retailers Association. "Lots more questions exist than answers."

ARA serves on the workgroup and will attend the meeting. ARA will also report through the Retailer Facts Newsletter any significant issues that are raised during the meeting.

The meeting will be held on Oct. 2, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in room S-12100 on the 12th floor at One Potomac Yard (South Bldg.), 2777 S. Crystal Drive, Arlington, Va.
