New Hazardous Materials Safety Permit brochure

Agricultural Retailers Association  |   August 6, 2012

A new brochure from the U.S. Department of Transportation reflects the latest changes to the Hazardous Materials Safety Permit (HMSP) program brought about by the June 27, 2012, Federal Register notice that amended certain administrative procedures relevant to the program, reported the Agricultural Retailers Association.

The brochure reflects the fact that motor carriers renewing their HMSP can only do so within a 30-day timeframe, and provides, among other contact information, the newly-establish HMSP e-mail address that can be used for submission of documents to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) instead of faxing.

The FMCSA has requested that announcement of this brochure be widely publicized to any business that might be transporting hazardous materials, which might fall under regulatory requirements.
