MFA Incorporated joins national buying group
MFA Incorporated announced it is joining with Tenkoz, a Georgia-based buying organization. The arrangement will bring MFA the bargaining power provided by the group which features a national coalition of 14 members with MFA’s addition.
MFA’s 2011 net sales of $1.3 billion and annual volume of $119 million in crop protection products will provide additional buying power for Tenkoz, effectively strengthening the market reach of both organizations.
According to Don Houston, MFA vice president of seed, crop protection and farm supply, “ We are excited by the prospect of joining this buying group which brings tremendous market strength and stability to purchasing power. Tenkoz will help us better position products in the marketplace and allow us to provide even better service to our farmer/owners.”
MFA Incorporated is a farm supply and marketing cooperative serving 45,000 active farmers in Missouri and adjacent states. Founded in 1914, MFA has 115 company-owned locations as well as 25 local MFA affiliates with 23 branches. In addition, the cooperative serves approximately 400 independent dealers and local cooperatives not affiliated with MFA.
Tenkoz, founded in 1983, is a national buying group that operates in all significant geographies of the U.S. crop protection market. The company’s volume of more than $2 billion in crop protection products gives it significant buying power in the United States. Tenkoz is the largest U.S. distribution entity.
“This arrangement is mutually beneficial,” said Jim Wissmiller, president of Tenkoz. “With the addition of MFA Incorporated,” he said, “we continue to build on our Midwest presence.”
In addition to MFA, the members of Tenkoz are Cardinal Chemical, Coastal Agribusiness, Diamond R Fertilizers, The Dune Company, Kova Fertilizers, Meherrin Agri & Chemical Co., Rosens Inc., Jimmy Sanders Inc., J.R. Simplot Company, Triangle Chemical Co., Van Diest Supply Co., West Central Inc. and Wilbur-Ellis Company. The Tenkoz headquarters are located in Alpharetta, Ga.
