The National Alliance of Independent Crop Consultants’ Annual Meeting is the perfect opportunity for crop consultants to achieve the goal of maintaining a professional edge by learning about the latest and greatest of precision agriculture tools for use by consultants.

This meeting is Jan. 23-26 in Jacksonville, Fla., and the alliance is reminding those already registered, and any last minute potential registrants, that precision ag will be an emphasis with several sessions on the meeting agenda.

“On Wednesday, Jan. 23, there is a bonus Precision Ag Software training session from 8 a.m. to noon. Representatives from Ag Renaissance, Ag Leader and Precision Partners will offer their expertise on the latest updates to their software. This session will also be a great opportunity to learn how fellow consultants are using various software packages,” noted Steve Hoffman, Hoffman Crop Consulting, Inc. and NAICC executive board member. Those wanting to participate need to register for this free session by visiting www.NAICC.org.

On Thursday at 8 a.m., there will be a one hour presentation titled "Yield Data Analysis" presented by John McGuire of Simplified Technology Services. “This will be a great opportunity to gain insight into reading yield monitor maps,” Hoffman said.

The next session, at 9 a.m. on Thursday, will be a one hour presentation titled "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Precision Agriculture" given by Kelly Robertson of Precision Ag Services. Hoff suggested it will be nice to compare notes about what is working well and what parts of precision ag still need improvement.

At 4:30 p.m., there will be a one hour session titled "Extracting the Value of Remote Imagery" lead by Tracy Blackmer, Ph.D. This should provide insight into some of the interesting field patterns that are showing up in remote images.

Hoffman also is asking NAICC members to keep the dates of Feb. 19-20 open for the "Focus on Precision" conference to be held in Des Moines, Iowa, at the Airport Holiday Inn. Details will be emailed and there will be discussion about the conference during the annual meeting.
