BIG PICTURE
By Doane Economist
The Argentine Agriculture Ministry lowered its estimate for corn plantings this year to 4.575 million hectares. The revised estimate is down about 100,000 hectares from the November and nearly 400,000 hectares below the pre-planting estimate and well below 2011/12 acreage at 5 million hectares. The Agriculture Ministry also estimated corn planting progress at 74 percent vs. 83 percent a year ago. The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, however, estimates that 67 percent of commercial-use acres have been planted, down from 75 percent planted a year ago. Based on the plantings figure, Doane estimates harvested acreage at 3.43 million hectares.

Nitrogen management for Southeast potato production
Excessive N fertilizer applied at or before tuberization can extend the vegetative growth period and delay tuber development, resulting in a lower yield. Too much N applied later in the season can delay maturity of the tubers, reducing yield and adversely affecting tuber quality and skin set. Full story.

VAULT® HP plus INTEGRAL® Delivers ROI

Smart soybean producers look to you for solid recommendations as they finalize their 2013 crop strategy.

Recommend the VAULT® HP plus INTEGRAL® soybean seed treatment system to help your growers discover more soybean yield potential and maximize their return on investment.

At $14/bushel, soybeans treated with VAULT HP plus INTEGRAL® returned an extra $56/acre in income (4.0 bushels/A yield advantage) versus non-inoculated soybeans on average, across 2010 and 2011 independent field trials. That's more than an 11-1 return on investment using average treatment costs

Why is recommending an inoculant important? Because top-yielding soybeans need nitrogen. More than 300 pounds of nitrogen is required to produce 60+ bushel yields, so having an abundance of active nitrogen-fixing root nodules is crucial. Maximize yield potential for your customers and include VAULT HP plus INTEGRAL as part of your complete seed treatment program recommendation.

The triple BioStacked® VAULT HP plus INTEGRAL system pairs a patented biological performance enhancer and a fresh high-count rhizobia inoculant with INTEGRAL biological fungicide. These components work together to deliver improved nitrogen fixation; help extend protection from key soil-borne diseases; and enhance root vigor, nodulation and nutrient uptake.

An industry-leading ultra-low application rate of 2.0 fl oz./CWT of seed, fresh high counts of rhizobia and improved treater-friendly application make the VAULT HP plus INTEGRAL system the right choice for every soybean grower.

Learn more about VAULT HP plus INTEGRAL and its performance at VAULTHP.com or call 1-800-892-2013.
