LENEXA, Kan. -- Jud Alford will become produce group publisher at food360, a division of Vance Publishing Corp., effective Oct. 1.

Alford, who is being promoted from national sales manager for the Produce Group and its lead publication, The Packer, will replace Robb Bertels.

Bertels has resigned his position as vice president with Vance to launch a new career but is staying on through September to create a smooth transition.

Alford has spent much of the past year and a half traveling to a wide variety of produce operations including growers/shippers/packers, packaging companies, wholesalers and terminal markets in every section of the U.S. and parts of Canada.

Food360, based in Lenexa, Kan., was formed in January 2005 by combining three divisions (Produce Division, Crops Division and Livestock Division) to bring a full-chain view to the food industry from production agriculture through retailers and foodservice. The Packer has been the authoritative voice of the produce industry since 1893.

Since its founding in 1937, Vance Publishing has been a recognized leader in business information and communications. Vance serves select business-to-business markets with 24 magazines, a host of newsletters, Web offerings, economic advisory services, event management, proprietary research and analysis, and data and custom media products.
