WASHINGTON, D.C. -- USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service has launched a new magazine called be FoodSafe: The FSIS Magazine.

It is now available for download at no charge at the FSIS Web site.

Hard copy subscriptions are available for purchase through the Government Printing Office.

The first issue of be FoodSafe: The FSIS Magazine showcases the work of FSIS and introduces the agency to those who may not be familiar with its mission and objectives to protect public health through food safety.

Subsequent issues will have a broader focus and strive to appeal to the larger food safety universe -- health professionals, consumers, scientists, researchers, food industry workers as well as FSIS personnel.

At the center of be FoodSafe: The FSIS Magazine will be its mission to provide readers with meaningful content. Articles will cover education programs for food workers, consumers and caregivers, food safety behavior trends, and emerging science and research. There will also be a focus on food inspection issues, both domestic and international, as well as profiles of FSIS professionals.
