According to a report on Meatingplace.com this morning, a Jimmy Dean sausage plant in Newbern, Tenn., is being repaired after severe storms blew through Sunday evening, killing eight people in the Midwest and leaving hundreds of thousands without power.

According to Sara Lee Corp., parent company of Jimmy Dean, the power station at the plant was damaged by tornadoes, which demolished nearby homes in the town. Damage to the plant is currently being assessed. The facility was not operating at the time, and no employees were injured.

Meatingplace.com said Sara Lee has sent support staff from its Downers Grove, Ill., and Cincinnati offices to assist local staff in finding alternative power sources to get the plant up and running as soon as possible. The company had no timetable for a return to full operations.
