FAIRFAX, Va. -- SRA International Inc. will provide the USDA with information technology services to develop and maintain a new system for the procurement, delivery, and management of commodities for domestic and foreign food assistance programs under a new task order from the GSA.

The SRA team includes Accenture and six small businesses: ECCO Select; M.K. Brown Consulting; Preferred Systems Solutions, Inc.; The Talmadge Group, Inc.; TSymetry, Inc.; and World Perspectives, Inc. The performance-based task order, awarded under the Millennia contract, has an estimated value of $90.5 million over five years if all options are exercised.

Four USDA agencies, as well as the U.S. Agency for International Development, manage commodity distribution programs serving over 30 million Americans and 280 million people abroad. The Web-based supply chain management system designed and maintained by the SRA team will support the annual purchase of more than $2.4 billion in commodities and improve service for customers, suppliers, and business partners.

SRA team services will include program management; requirements analysis; integration of commercial off-the-shelf products; systems design, development, and integration; information security; operations and maintenance; and training.

"We are pleased to be part of this mission-critical program that manages the purchasing and ordering for all USDA domestic and international food aid programs," said Tim Atkin, SRA vice president and director, civil sector. "Our team is excited about supporting USDA in designing a flexible and scalable program that will improve order cycle times, financial processing, and other customer relationship management areas to reduce costs for both USDA and its customers while improving service."
