A bill introduced in the Senate that would provide funds for water projects in California is in contrast to a House bill to pump more water to San Joaquin Valley growers.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said she crafted the bill she introduced without regard to what House Republicans did in putting forth a water bill, which many observers have claimed rolls back environmental protections in the state.
Feinstein claims to have tried to craft a bill that is centralist to the concerns of environmentalists and to growers, but she also said a balancing act isn’t completely what either side wants.
The Feinstein bill is co-sponsored by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), a highly vocal critic of Republican actions to maneuver water supplies in California.
