Schering-Plough Animal Health Corporation, Kenilworth, N.J., introduces Tri-Merit Individual Animal Health & History Certification Program. It is a complimentary service offered by Schering-Plough Animal Health and powered by its subsidiary, Global Animal Management Inc.

Tri-Merit is a data management system that combines traditional process certification with individual animals and their birthdates. Its design is to help producers market their cattle and gain potential benefit of associating process and birthdates with individual animals. At the same time, it provides a foundation for producers to prepare for the new market pressure associated with the National Animal Identification System (NAIS).

"This is the first online cattle certification program available to producers through an animal health company, through company representatives they already know and trust," says Rick Sibbel, DVM, manager of Global Animal Management technical services. "In the Tri-Merit program, calves' birth dates are certified, health and management processes are dated and verified, the records can be maintained electronically or printed as paper documents, and the records are secured through each participant's password and file protector number," Sibbel says.
