Lehmann Aviation announced the launch of what it claims is the most efficient and affordable aerial system for precision agriculture: LA300 drone coming with the MicaSense RedEdge multispectral camera. The launch offer is priced at U.S. $7,990 only (instead of U.S. $8,990) for a limited time.
The LA300AG drone is compatible with the latest version of Lehmann OperationCenter software for flight preparation and mission control—designed for Windows 8.1, tablets and PC. Again, the company claims its “OperationCenter has been proven to be very powerful and probably the most user-friendly drone control software.”
An explanation of operation sounds simple. “To get multispectral images of the crops, the user just has to set waypoints on the touchscreen map of the area, and OperationCenter will automatically calculate all mission parameters. After the trajectory is sent to the LA300AG via Wi-Fi, the drone is launched by hand, automatically accomplishes the flight and lands fully autonomously at the chosen site with geotagged multispectral images on the SD card.”
The LA300AG flies for up to 45 minutes at a range of up to 25 km (15.5miles). The company says it can be flown in harsh environments, in temperatures between -25 °C up to +60 °C (-13 °F up to 140 °F), with winds of up to 35 km/h (20 kt). Together with the RedEdge camera, the LA300AG weights 950 grams (2 lbs.), with a wingspan of 92cm and length of 45cm.
