Monsanto Company received export approval from China for its Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans, and Growmark has been ready with FS HiSOY brand soybeans. Eleven new varieties featuring the trait have been released.

These newly released soybean varieties, ranging from Group 2.0 to 4.9 in maturity, provide growers with cutting edge genetics and technology that are part of the industry's first biotech-stacked soybean trait with both dicamba and glyphosate herbicide tolerance.

It must be noted that although Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans are tolerant to both glyphosate and dicamba herbicides, the use of dicamba herbicide over the top of Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans remains in late stage of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) review and is not currently approved by the EPA. Once approved, the Roundup Ready Xtend Crop System “will offer growers a vital tool for managing tough-to-control and glyphosate-resistant weeds.”

The claim being made to growers is that HiSOY growers “will experience maximum yield opportunity with more beans per pod and more bushels per acre” using the soybean seed and crop system.

Of the trait release, Matt Hynes, Growmark seed sales and marketing manager said, “These new genetics will take the HiSOY brand to the next level of superior performance that growers have come to expect.”

FS HiSOY soybeans are available at FS member companies in the Midwest and northeastern states.
