ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. will offer VE85(TM) fuel at the low price of $.85 per gallon as part of a special five-hour promotion at three Sheetz Inc. locations in Pittsburgh this weekend.

Saturday, Dec. 16, customers can fill up their flex-fuel vehicles with VE85 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at three Sheetz locations -- 3954 William Penn Highway in Monroeville, 5400 Campbells Run Road in Robinson Township, and the first Sheetz location to sell VE85(TM), the store on Route 51, Clairton Blvd. in Pleasant Hills.

VE85(TM), VeraSun's brand of E85, is a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline.

There are approximately six million flex-fuel vehicles on the road that can operate on any combination of E85 and unleaded gasoline. Consumers are encouraged to refer to their vehicle owner's manual or to determine whether or not their vehicles can accept E85 fuel.

"Sheetz Inc. is thrilled to have the opportunity to make this biofuel, VE85, available to our customers at an even greater low price," said Louie Sheetz, executive vice-president of marketing for Sheetz, Inc. "VE85 is new to a lot of consumers, and we hope that $.85 per gallon will encourage flex-fuel vehicle owners to try a tank of this renewable fuel option."

On July 10, 2006, Sheetz joined VeraSun Energy Corporation, General Motors Corporation, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to bring VeraSun E85, an ethanol-based renewable fuel to Pittsburgh. Sheetz Inc. was the first chain retailer in Pennsylvania to begin selling E85, another industry first for the company.

Governor Edward G. Rendell selected Sheetz Inc. in October 2006 to receive the Renewable Agricultural Energy Council Leadership Award based the company's pioneering efforts at renewable energy and biofuel development and deployment in Pennsylvania.

Established in 1952 in Altoona, Pa., Sheetz Inc. is one of America's fastest growing family-owned and operated convenience store chains, with more than $3.8 billion in revenue for 2006 and more than 11,000 employees. The company operates 329 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.

VeraSun Energy Corporation is the second-largest ethanol producer in the U.S., based on production. The company has two operating production facilities located in Aurora, S.D., and Fort Dodge, Iowa, and is constructing facilities in Charles City and Hartley, Iowa, and Welcome, Minn. Upon completion of the new facilities, VeraSun will have production capacity of approximately 560 million gallons of ethanol per year.

The company markets VeraSun E85, a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline for Flexible Fuel Vehicles, directly to fuel retailers under the brand VE85(TM). VeraSun's branded E85 is now available at more than 80 retail locations. or .
