On March 18, Laura Johnston will leave her post of three-and-a-half years as National Farmers Union's director of communications to begin a freelance communications career in Ottawa, Ontario. Johnston came to the NFU Washington office in August 2001, after five years as Oklahoma Farmers Union's information and public relations specialist.



Succeeding Johnston is Emily Eisenberg, who was named NFU communications director on March 14. Eisenberg has covered Capitol Hill and federal agencies for WDAY-TV in Fargo, N.D., and has produced and anchored newscasts for WYCC-TV in Chicago. She has reported stories for two New York Times-owned newspapers in northern Alabama and for MTV News' "Choose or Lose" Web site. She has also served in a media relations capacity for People for the American Way. Eisenberg grew up in Washington, D.C., and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and a Master of Science degree in broadcast journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern.
