The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) supports the pork industry's efforts to combat the myths regarding the H1N1 flu. NCGA also thanked Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano for their assistance in eliminating confusion about the situation.

"As a corn grower and hog farmer, I would like to reiterate the importance of the pork industry within the agriculture sector," NCGA President Bob Dickey said. "We will support the pork industry's efforts in educating America that humans cannot get H1N1 from eating pork or pork products and assist them in getting that message out."

Regarding H1N1, Secretary Vilsack stated, "I want to reiterate that U.S. pork is safe. While we in the United States are continuing to monitor for new cases of H1N1 flu, the American food supply is safe."

Secretary Napolitano echoed that by stating, "Pork and pork products are safe and there is no basis for restricting imports. You should also know that you cannot get H1N1 flu from eating pork. Pork products are perfectly safe.
