The American Soybean Association congratulated Louisiana soy growers for leading the nation in average yield per acre in 2014 with an average of 57 bushels per acre.

According to the Daily Agri-News Report from Louisiana Farm Bureau Agri-News Radio Network, this is a first for Louisiana and weather along with research into varieties, planting dates and soil types played a big part in the yields.

Following close behind at the number two state for average soybean yield per acre is Illinois with 56 bushels per acre.
