Greg Dahl, a research manager for product development at WinField United, was named president of the North Central Weed Science Society (NCWSS). He will serve in this role until the next annual meeting in December 2017.
“There are many issues for the NCWSS to deal with,” says Dahl. “We have resistant weeds. We also have the new dicamba technologies hitting the market, which will create opportunities to do great things. But we will need to practice stewardship like we never have before — doing our very best to keep chemicals in the right place and ensuring they stay where farmers put them.”
Dahl has been with WinField United — the seed, crop protection products, agricultural services and agronomic insights business of Land O’Lakes, Inc. — since 1997. He has coordinated and conducted numerous experiments in the areas of adjuvants, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, seed treatments and micronutrients. His research has led to the introduction of more than 50 new or improved products with significant sales and usage.
Dahl has been an active member of the NCWSS and North Central Weed Control Conference since 1981, and he was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Industry Award from the NCWSS in 2011.
Prior to WinField United, Dahl worked for the North Dakota State University Extension Service and the American Cyanamid Company. Dahl earned his Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy and his master’s degree in agronomy (weed science) from North Dakota State University.
