A unique opportunity to grow farm business online is being offered through the National Farmers Union E-cooperatives.com Web site. Launched today, it will allow consumers to locate and purchase quality products and services from family-farm producers, their co-ops and other rural businesses.

The site maintains a growing, searchable database listing farmer-controlled businesses categorized by general products, location, growing practices, specialty products and niche items.

Individuals or co-op businesses are offered an online form through which they can describe their farm or co-op business. A basic charter listing is currently free. Additional features include enhanced listings and featured businesses and products.

This new site is an outgrowth of the original educational component of www.e-cooperatives.com that provides step-by-step tips for developing online business. The project is administered through NFU's department of economic and cooperative development with partial grant support from USDA/Rural Development-Colorado office.
