The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) congratulates Frontier Ethanol, LLC, for beginning construction on its ethanol plant near Gowrie, Iowa. The plant will process over 21 million bushels of corn into 60 million gallons of ethanol and 178,000 tons of distillers grains annually. The plant is expected to employ approximately 40 people.



The plant is being built by Broin Companies of Sioux Falls, S.D. "Frontier Ethanol is creating a new corn market for producers throughout the region; it is providing new highly technical, good paying jobs and will contribute millions of dollars to the local economy," said Jeff Broin, CEO of Broin Companies. "We're thrilled to play such a key role in the successful ethanol industry in Iowa and look forward to maximizing the success of Frontier Ethanol."



Currently, 84 ethanol plants nationwide have the capacity to produce over 3.75 billion gallons annually. There are 15 ethanol plants and two major expansions under construction with a combined annual capacity of nearly 730 million gallons.
