KALO, Inc., has announced that Doug John will be joining the company as its new director of sales and marketing, effective May 2.

Doug is a 33-year veteran of the agriculture industry. He began his career with Monsanto, where his focus was on technical sales. After serving three years as president and general manager of Waverly Farm Supply in Waverly, Iowa, he joined the sales and marketing team of BASF, where he worked for 28 years.

Doug has seen tremendous changes in the industry's approach to marketing over the past three decades. "The demographics in agriculture have changed dramatically in the past 30 years. Farmers are fewer and larger; so are retail customers. And the use of the Internet in agriculture has changed a lot about how we approach the market. As the growers get bigger, they seem to be thirstier for information. Ag retailers today need to differentiate their product offering by placing value-added tank mix additives to the grower's spray tank."
