Corn futures were higher on Monday. A late session rally pulled futures higher after being locked in narrow trading most of the session. Traders are evening positions ahead of the Prospective Plantings report. May ended 2 1/4 cents higher at 2.12 3/4.

Soybean futures ended lower today in a quiet trade session. Light speculative selling pushed prices lower, but a activity was light ahead of the Prospective Plantings report due out on Thursday. May fell 3 cents to close at $6.25 3/4.

Wheat futures slipped to a lower close Monday pressured by a strengthening U.S. dollar and generally favorable crop conditions in the hard red winter wheat region. CBOT May was 2 1/2 cents lower at $3.36. KCBT May was down 2 1/4 cents at $3.46 1/4. MGE May fell 2 1/2 cents to close at $3.55 1/4.

Cattle futures were strongly higher Monday, boosted by last week's firm cash market and positive news on the export front. Japan's Food Safety Commission has agreed to a proposal to exempt cattle less than 21 months of age from BSE testing. April closed 145 points higher at $89.80.

Lean hog futures closed mostly higher on Monday, except for nearby April. Weakness in cash markets kept downward pressure on nearby contracts. Thursday's Hogs and Pigs report was mildly supportive for deferreds. April ended 65 cents lower at $69.65.
