USDA boosted the forecast for U.S. cotton exports by 200,000 bales in March to 13.2 million bales. This brings total use to 19.5 million bales and cuts ending stocks to 7.1 million bales. The 7.1 million bale carryover is still more than double the 3.5 million bale level recorded at the end of 2003-04, but is well below the 7.7 million bale projection recorded in December. Strong exports hold the key for the cotton market since domestic use is declining, falling from 6.5 million bales last year to 6.3 million in 2004-05.
