Mycogen seeds expands offerings into Midsouth

Mycogen Seeds is expanding its sales into the Midsouth this season, making Mycogen brand corn and soybean products more broadly available to growers in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
“Mycogen Seeds has been conducting extensive product research and development in the Midsouth for several years, and we are now ready to offer a portfolio of competitive corn and soybean seed products to complement PhytoGen cottonseed and Dow AgroSciences crop protection product offerings,” said Hank King, Mycogen Seeds portfolio marketing leader.
“We know that growers in this region demand products that perform under a wide variety of agronomic challenges, and we are prepared to deliver a full pipeline of corn hybrids and soybean varieties that are bred to perform here," he said.
Mycogen Seeds will offer corn hybrids and soybean varieties with elite genetics. Most of our corn hybrids will feature SmartStax, a Bt trait combination that provides protection against a broad spectrum of insect pests, including corn earworm—a significant threat to growers in the region. The available soybean varieties will contain the Roundup Ready 2 Yield herbicide trait.
To support its growth into the Midsouth, the company has hired Chad Brewer, Ph.D., and Reed Parker as grain development specialists. In their new roles, Brewer and Parker will provide agronomic support to the Dow AgroSciences sales team and dealers for Mycogen brand corn hybrids and soybean varieties.
Brewer will be responsible for Arkansas and western Tennessee. Parker will be responsible for Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. Both have previously worked for Dow AgroSciences in these same geographies as PhytoGen cotton development specialists.
“Both have developed dynamic relationships with our distribution partners as well as many cotton growers in their territories. We expect that local dealers and growers will view Chad and Reed as trusted agronomic resources," King said.
