The American Seed Trade Association team just confirmed that House Committee on Agriculture Chairman Frank Lucas and Ranking Member Collin Peterson will brief Storm the Hill Day participants from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. June 20 in the Committee's hearing room.
"Storm the Hill" day is designed to get seed industry representatives out of their offices, fields and labs and up on Capitol Hill to help tell the story and share the importance of the seed industry and the value of the work being done.
"Our Congressmen and women need to be able to put a face with the seed industry, and when questions come up they need a reliable source in their state they can go to for information," said Leslie Cahill, ASTA vice president of government affairs. "In today's environment, it's critical that education and outreach be an important part of a company's activities."
Cahill who is one of the organizers of Storm the Hill Day hopes to have representatives from all of ASTA's member companies, reflecting the diversity of the seed industry.
"We make this process very simple - all you have to do is register and express interest in going to the Hill and talking with your elected officials," she said. "We'll set up the appointments for you, provide you with materials and talking points, answers your questions or concerns, and get you where you need to be."
