With the exception of Tennessee, the worst of the nation’s corn is centered primarily in the nation’s midsection. Kansas, with 8 percent of corn in poor to very poor condition, once again leads the pack in struggling crop conditions. The latest Ag in Drought report shows 92 percent of corn in the Sunflower State is growing in areas currently in drought.

The corn crop in Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska and Tennessee aren’t far behind Kansas’ crop. Each state reports at least 6 percent of corn in poor or worse condition.

For soybeans, planting is winding down. Eighty-seven percent of soybeans have been planted as-of June 8, putting this year’s pace above the five-year average and last year’s report. Around 70 percent of soybeans have also emerged.

Looking at soybean condition, 74 percent of this year’s soybean crop is in good or better condition.
