Mobile drip irrigation seeking foothold in western Kansas fields

In a region where some of the United States’ most productive farmland lies, Kansas State University researchers are putting a water-saving technology on the fast track. Agricultural engineer Isaya Kisekka said he and other faculty in the university’s Southwest Research and Extension Center are finding ways to retrofit center pivot sprinklers with mobile drip irrigation tubes.

Ben & Jerry’s defends Vermont law requiring disclosure of GMO foods

Ben & Jerry’s has joined other Vermont businesses and consumer groups in defending Vermont’s new labeling requirements for genetically engineered (GE) foods – one of the first such labeling laws in the country – against a federal court challenge brought by the food industry. The groups submitted a brief supporting the disclosure of GE ingredients so people have more information about the health, safety and environmental impacts of the foods they consume.

Syngenta receives EPA registration for Solatenol

Syngenta announced that its newest succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) fungicide – Solatenol – has received registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and is now available in four product offerings, pending individual state registrations. Solatenol fungicide is now available for use by U.S. growers on a wide range of crops.
