Corn crop condition best since 2010

So far, the 2014 corn crop condition is the best seen in years.

The USDA’s latest Crop Progress report shows just 4 percent of corn is in poor or very poor condition, compared to 8 percent reported this time last year:

The worst corn in the nation is in Kansas and Nebraska, where 9 percent of the corn crop is rated in poor or very poor condition. Pennsylvania reported the best corn in the country with 85 percent in good or excellent condition.

Soybeans are also faring slightly better than last year, with 73 percent of soybeans in good or excellent condition, compared to 64 percent reported last year. 

Louisiana reported the highest percentages of soybeans in poor to very poor condition while North Dakota reported the best soybeans in the country.
