Scientists investigating how to control take-all, a fungus that lives in soil and infects wheat roots to cause disease, have discovered that different varieties of wheat have distinct and lasting impacts on the health of the soil in which they are grown.


Nation's ag co-ops set records for income and revenue

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that the nation's farmer, rancher and fishery cooperatives posted record income and revenue in 2014. As part of USDA's observance of October as National Cooperative Month, Vilsack previewed a USDA report to be released later this month that shows cooperatives earned $6.5 billion in net income and generated $246.7 billion in total revenue last year.


Wilbur-Ellis opens new dry fertilizer storage and blending facility

Wilbur-Ellis Company, a user and supplier of precision agriculture technology and a large-scale marketer and distributor of plant protection, seed and nutritional products, has constructed and opened a 22,000 ton dry fertilizer storage and blending facility in Moses Lake, Washington, a multi-million dollar record investment for the company to serve the agricultural community.
