ISA renews partnership with Pivot Wealth Strategies

With net farm income predicted to shrink by a third in 2015, Iowa soybean farmers are scrutinizing all aspects of their farm operations to remain competitive. To assist in their efforts, the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) is renewing its partnership with Pivot Wealth Strategies of Des Moines to provide farmers with timely insight on asset management, financial planning, and farm succession.

The footprint of Chinese demand for U.S. soybeans

Due in large part to record plantings and yield the U.S. produced 3.969 billion bushels of soybeans in 2014. Of this total, USDA's March 10 World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) projects for the U.S. to export 1.79 billion bushels of soybeans during the 2014-2015 marketing year. The primary destination? China.

Crop, livestock markets diverged Monday morning

Short covering reportedly boosted crop markets Monday morning. Tomorrow’s big USDA Grain Stocks and Prospective Plantings reports could spark strong reactions in the crop markets, so traders are probably squaring positions beforehand. Indeed, wire service reports cited short-covering for today’s early corn strength. Concurrent soybean and wheat gains are likely pulling corn higher as well. May corn futures edged up 2.0 cents to $3.93/bushel late Monday morning, while December added 1.75 to $4.165.
